genesis The act of producing, or giving birth or origin to anything; the process or mode of originating; production; formation; origination.

Delving into the realm of noise to explore textures, resonances and artifacts emerging from obsolete technologies as they interface with digital tools. Harnessing the raw, unrefined waveforms and laconic rhythms discovered during improvisatory exploration on a modular system, and crafting unconventional sound in a dialogue between epochs.

metamorphosis

A change of form or structure, action or
process of changing in form.

Reconfiguration might also be read as creation. From raw sound and image, we shape tools to generate more of the same—once a fragment is captured and imbued with meaning beyond its initial form, it is transformed beyond its original state.  This gradual and ever-expanding repertoire of sonic and visual elements represents a fascination with evolution—be it of our creative processes, the spaces in which we experience media, or the conceptual landscapes we navigate. The larger impulse to manipulate and reframe perception—through layering, distortion, abstraction, and juxtaposition—is ongoing and, to a certain degree, inevitable.

translation

a carrying across, removal, transporting;
a transfer of meaning

The raw material of sound and image — whether recorded, synthesized, or manipulated — is continuously refined through processes of translation and reinterpretation. Waveforms and digital files belie the dimensionality of experience, and our tools for modulation, layering, and spatialization allow us to reshape perception, constructing new configurations of and for sensory engagement. The act of translation mediates between the intangible realm of ideas and their tangible impact, bridging the virtual and the real through sound, image, and time.

birth

any coming into existence

The constructed audiovisual world emerges through the interplay of human creativity and technological mediation.  The core elements of composition—rhythm, tone, texture, contrast, and space—shape raw material into immersive, structured experiences that transform perception. These elements orchestrate the intangible, bending sound and image into coherent, evocative forms.  Once an idea has been conceived, refined, and given structure, the process of nurturing it into a tangible, experiential reality begins.

life

to continue, to remain; term of duration or existence; conspicuously active; vivifying or animating principle

Once a collection of sonic and visual elements has been arranged into structure, the resulting composition is experienced.  The work, therefore, becomes embedded in the cultural fabric, woven into collective and individual perception. It begins to shape interaction, interpretation, immersion, and distance—facilitating connection, introspection, and the shared experience of audiences.

death

total cessation of life, act or fact of dying,
state of being dead; cessation; an end

As with all things, a creative work has a finite lifespan— sometimes shortened by poor execution or deliberate obsolescence.  Fatigue, oversaturation, and shifts in context lead to its fading relevance (a natural end), while other works are intentionally deconstructed — an erasure that, depending on its scale, requires both precision and deliberation. The components of a composition are dismantled before they are repurposed, sampled, or reimagined in new forms.

procession

a marching onward, a going forward,
advance; act of issuing forth

All creative works reach an end, ceremoniously or otherwise. In the case of sound and image, one arrangement dissolves, making way for another; processes of fragmentation and reinterpretation scatter elements that once formed a cohesive whole.  Some are discarded, lost to time, while others are sampled, remixed, or transformed into new expressions. Both outcomes hold symbolic weight—the act of transferring material from one form to another should be understood as a ritual of renewal.

archaeology

the study of ancient things; customs,
societies, social mores, etc.

Methodically arranged from a chaos of raw sound and image, individual fragments begin to reveal traces of their origins. Removed from their initial context and placed within an abstracted framework, they are restructured into a grid to create meaning.  The passage of time lends even the most unassuming sounds or visuals a resonance beyond their original function, and it is here that we find intrigue. They become artifacts—signifiers of something beyond immediate perception, hinting at deeper connections within the sensory world.

reliquary

a receptacle to house a surviving trace of some
practice or idea, remnants, or anything that is
left behind after the loss or ruin of the rest

This constructed audiovisual landscape weaves multiple layers into one. As a structure of repurposed fragments, this disjointed and arbitrary terrain is reassembled into a singular, codified yet heterogeneous form.  It is an archive of discarded sounds and images—collected, recontextualized, arranged, and revived as a spectral imprint of what once was.
